LAOS OR NORTH VIETNAM. Description of Item Antique 1930ish Pink Embossed Boudoir Ball Globe Chimney Vanity Glass Lamp Shade I am not really finding much if anything really wrong with this. Read On. This is pink in color and resembles in some ways a satin type glass. The raised embossed areas are raised and clear This was made way back when using vintage old time glass making procedureswhich were not perfected like it is today.Odds are this was made in a mold and then bottom broken off the mold before it totally cooled.Perhaps in a semi hand made process. With that said the bottom is rough where it sat on the base and can not be seen. In the olden days the hot glass would settle at the bottom of the mold and the item broken off the mold and the break off was often not even close to being smooth. I am thinking this was made that way. When you look at the pictures of the bottom you may think "Chips and Flicks" however I question that as if you look at it up close I am going to say it was made that way. See pictures you decide. In any case you more than likely can not see this roughness or this are when setting on the lamp anyhow. As is also common in old making processes the seams where they put two sides of the mold together after cleaning may be a little rough and not 100% perfect. It is not so much on this shade but mentioning it as it is very common in old glass shades. There is slight roughness inside the top hole more than likely from the process of it being made Because this is likely close to 90 years old or thereabouts this is in pretty darn good shape. Wear on the glass is my view at a minimum overall in my view and aging may be slight but not so much in my way of thinking This is a stunning example of 1930ish glass making and shades. I am guessing the diameter at the fat part of the shades center is roughly 6 1/2 inches This shade is pretty traditional in line with other shades made during this period in the old time making processesand with that said using a bit of my knowledge from collecting lamps nothing really adverse or out of the normal for year made in the glass or its making techniques. Other sizes can be viewed in the pictures This is heavy made glass for its size being approx 3/16th of an inch in thickness in some areas. View Pictures and You decide. As this is old and hard to come by I am only going to ship this Priority Mail. Lets not forget Antique Glass.Why? It keeps it out of the shipping lanes for a lesser period of time and the lesstimes in the shipping lanes the less rough handling of it.Especially this time of year of massive package deliveriesYou want it there in one piece right??? Old magazines, books, publications, booklets and manuals may come with wear, age spots & page discoloration. Some may have a slight age or other odor from aging. It's a natural process. I collect or have collected many Vintage items over the years and I personally feel this adds to their character, charm and shows that the background and history of the pieces as being authentically old and thus making them more in demand, collectable and desirable to those that enjoy and/or collect them. Remember that even a vintage item in really good condition is old and it may not function as well as when it was originally made. Plastic type and other items can change color and/or weaken over time because of light, pollutants, heat, humidity and other items in the air. So if you intend on using a Vintage item, please be aware of this, and be careful. We can not control how you use them. They may be more subject to breaking just because of the fact they are old. Yet other items were made better back then, then similar items made today, so you alone have to make your decision to buy and item or not. With that said when we are selling Vintage & Antique items we are selling them for collectors value, and likewise if you break an item after it is sold, this is not our fault, as vintage and antique items are usually old when we sell them.
