S. Design Pat 98212 DESCRIPTION: This set of 5 beautiful salad plates was produced in the Acacia pattern of pink and yellow flowers with green leaves in cartouches of warm yellow scrollwork. The design looks so classic. The smooth rim is trimmed in gold and the white center of the plate is separated from the yellow outer part by a scrollwork garland. Check our eBay store for other items in the Acacia pattern. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks on the center part of the plates. There is no wear to the gold or colors. DIMENSIONS: The plates have a diameter of 9 7/8" and a height of 7/8". HISTORY/MARKS: Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing porcelain china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan with its huge kaolin clay sources. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911. The backstamp is identified by David Spain's Art Deco Noritake & More as blue mark #42.056, used in the 1933-1953 time period. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
