Description
The cockatiel, also known as the Quarrion and the Weiro, is a member of the cockatoo family endemic to Australia. They are ideal as a household pet and companion parrot throughout the world and are straightforward to breed in an aviary. They are relatively easy to tame and will interact. If they are kept in a spacious aviary they should mix well with Budgies, Parakeets and Quail. Cockatiels are second in popularity to the budgie.
The various large parakeets we sell are Plumheads, Quakers, Rosellas and Ringnecks. We know that Plumheads, Princess of Wales and Quaker birds can be kept in mixed aviaries with most birds. Rosellas and Ringnecks, however, should be kept as a pair in individual aviaries, although may mix in aviaries without any nest boxes. All will make good pets because of their vibrant colours and moderate noise level, especially the ringneck
